Job summary

CARSTAR EASTERN HILLS LLC in Amherst, NY is seeking an experienced Metal Technician to repair vehicles to pre-accident condition using APS guidelines and factory specs. Qualifications

• I-CAR welding and ASE Structural (B4) certification strongly preferred.
• Experience using frame and measuring equipment.

Responsibilities

• Repair damaged vehicles using technical information sheets following APS in accordance with RO.
• Make repair or replacement decisions concerning safety and costs.
• Remove upholstery, accessories, electrical and trim to access vehicle and fenders.
• Perform structural or replacement repairs, airbag replacement and some mechanical work.
• File, grind, and sand repaired surfaces with power tools and hand tools.
• Communicate with Production Manager and Estimator on repair status and supplements.
• Own a set of required tools, in working order.

The CARSTAR Collision Repair Centers in Newfane, Amherst, and Williamsville are currently seeking to hire an auto body Metal Technician. Metal Technician will be provided with 2 work bays. Bay 1 has a Caroliner speed rack and bay 2 has an Atlas 9000lb scissor lift. In addition there is a separate area for larger pulls

The Metal Technician is responsible for making repairs to all assigned vehicles, restoring them to pre-accident condition in accordance with industry standards and factory specifications.

The Metal Technician will:

• Repair damaged vehicles using technical information sheets following APS (Advanced Process Solutions) in accordance with repair orders (RO)
• Makes repair or replace decisions concerning safety and costs
• Removes upholstery, accessories, electrical and hydraulic window operating equipment, and trim to gain access to vehicle and fenders
• Performs structural or replacement repairs, airbag replacement and some mechanical work
• Files, grinds, and sands repaired surfaces, using power tools and hand tools
• Works and communicates with Production Manager and Estimator on the vehicle repair status (including supplements)
• Own a set of required tools, in working order

Required Experience:

• 2-5 years of auto body collision repair experience required.
• High School diploma/GED required, collision tech graduate preferred.
• I-CAR certification or ASE training preferred.
• I-CAR welding and ASE Structural (B4) certification strongly preferred.
• Experience using frame and measuring equipment.
