Kenworth Sales Company seeks a Body Shop Technician Apprentice for our Boise, ID team. This role offers an opportunity to participate in the Employee Tool Purchase Program and a salary range of $16–$25/hour depending on experience.

The position involves performing body work on customer equipment, following safety guidelines, and advancing skills through hands-on training under the Body Shop Manager. A valid driver’s license and 1–2 years of body repair experience are preferred.

Salary Minimum and Maximum: $16-$25 depending on experience

JOB SUMMARY

The primary function of the Body Shop Technician Apprentice is to perform body work on customer equipment in a superior and thorough manner.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist the Body Shop Manager with the care, storage and usage of all materials used in body work processes. Follows all safety standards set by applicable governmental guidelines, including state fire and health codes, and federal OSHA guidelines.
• Maintain regular working knowledge and familiarity with all EPA and OSHA documentation as required by applicable government health and safety regulations including OSHA and EPA guidelines.
• Perform work as directed by the Body Shop Manager in a timely and thorough manner. Maintain a superior standard of workmanship in all services performed.
• Advise the Body Shop Manager of any recommended changes in services ordered by the customer.
• Determine if any further service should be recommended to the customer and communicate such recommendations to the Body Shop Manager.
• Maintain a level of training and experience with specialized materials, equipment, machinery, and body working techniques necessary for superior servicing of the customer’s equipment. Attend training sessions as required from time to time by the Body Shop Manager.
• Perform light detail work to include buffing, polishing decal removal and light interior detail.
• Performs additional services as required when any piece of equipment is returned by a customer because of the Body Shop Technician’s faulty workmanship.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to read, write, and comprehend English instructions and information. High school diploma or the equivalent. Valid driver’s license and good driving record. 1-2 years’ experience as a body repair technician or apprentice. Working knowledge of body repair methods. Ability to interpret vendor catalogs. Excellent organization and communication skills. Professional personal appearance.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This is a physically demanding position. Will stand six to eight hours per shift. Will stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle and feel. Will lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds. Will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, paint, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials.
