Job summary

Kenworth Sales Company in Boise, ID is seeking a Journeyman Service Technician for 2nd shift (3:30pm - Midnight) to perform high-quality repairs and provide service recommendations. The role involves handling repair orders, maintaining workmanship standards, and communicating with the Shop Foreman about service changes.

Requires five years of heavy-duty truck repair experience, English proficiency, tool operation skills, and PC familiarity.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and comprehend English instructions and information.
• High school diploma or the equivalent.
• Five years of experience as a heavy-duty truck repair technician with emphasis on engine repair.
• Working knowledge of all heavy truck repair methods.
• Operate power and hand tools safely.
• Working knowledge of PC and Computers.
• Excellent organization and communication skills.
• CDL preferred with good driving record.

• Follows instructions and executes work assignments thoroughly and efficiently.
• Maintains superior workmanship in all services performed.
• Advises Shop Foreman of recommended changes in services.
• Determines further repairs or servicing to recommend to customer.
• Maintains training and experience with specialized equipment and techniques.
• Attends training sessions as required.
• Performs additional repairs when necessary due to faulty workmanship.
• Maintains accurate work order records and time clocking.
• Follows warranty guidelines and proper part handling.
• Assists after-hours call outs with timely resolution.
• Mentors apprentice technicians and supports skill growth.

Salary Minimum and Maximum: $32.00 - $42.00 an hour DOE!!

Job Summary

2nd Shift Schedule: 3:30pm - Midnight

The primary function of the Journeyman Service Technician is to perform superior quality repairs to customer equipment and make recommendations for further services as determined by the Technician during service.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Receives repair order assignments from Service Manager/Foreman.
• Follows instructions and executes work assignments in repair order thoroughly and efficiently.
• Maintains superior standard of workmanship in all services performed.
• Advises Shop Foreman of any recommended changes in services ordered by the customer.
• Determines if any further repairs or servicing should be recommended to the customer and communicates such recommendations to the Shop Foreman.
• Maintains a level of training and experience with specialized equipment, machinery, and servicing techniques necessary for superior servicing of the customer’s equipment.
• Attends training sessions as required by the Service Manager.
• Performs additional repairs as required when any piece of equipment is returned by customer because of Technician’s faulty workmanship.
• Maintain accurate work order records of work performed and time clocked on jobs.
• Follow warranty vendor guidelines while keeping the service desk informed. Ensure that all parts are properly marked, retained, and handled according to the vendors’ warranty requirements.
• Accept and represent the department in all assigned after hours call out situations, ensuring timely response, professional communication, and proper resolution of issues.
• Assist in developing apprentice technicians by providing guidance and on the job training as directed by the Service Manager/Foreman ensuring skill growth and adherence to department standards.

Qualifications

Ability to read, write, and comprehend English instructions and information. High school diploma or the equivalent. Five years of experience as a heavy-duty truck repair technician with an emphasis on engine repair. Working knowledge of all heavy truck repair methods. Ability to operate power and hand tools and other equipment safely. Working knowledge of P/C and Computers Excellent organization and communication skills. Valid Commercial Driver's License preferred and good driving record.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This is a physically demanding position. Will stand six to eight hours per shift. Will stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle and feel. Will lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds. Will use hand and power tools, hoist and test equipment. Will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, paint, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials.
