Job summary

Kenworth Sales Co. in Salt Lake City, UT is seeking a Service Technician Apprentice to perform quality repairs on customer equipment and advise on further services as directed by the Shop Foreman.

This entry-level role requires basic truck repair knowledge, a trade school background or hands-on apprenticeship, a valid driver's license, and strong attention to safety and workmanship. Training provided.

Qualifications

• Trade School or apprenticeship in truck shop.
• High school diploma or the equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to operate hand tools safely.
• Ability to read, write and comprehend English instructions.

Responsibilities

• Receive repair orders from Shop Foreman and follow directions.
• Perform quality repairs and document work performed.
• Maintain workmanship standards across services.
• Suggest changes in services to the Shop Foreman.
• Determine additional repairs and communicate recommendations.
• Maintain training with equipment, machinery, and servicing techniques.
• Attend training sessions as required by the Service Manager.
• Record time and work orders accurately.

Salary Minimum and Maximum

$22-$30 Depending on experience!

JOB SUMMARY

The primary function of the PacLease Service Technician Apprentice is to perform superior quality repairs to customer equipment and make recommendations for further services as determined by the Technician during service.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Receives repair order assignments from Shop Foreman
• Follows instructions and executes work assignments in repair order thoroughly and efficiently.
• Maintains superior standard of workmanship in all services performed.
• Advises Shop Foreman of any recommended changes in services ordered by the customer
• Determines if any further repairs or servicing should be recommended to the customer, and communicates such recommendations to the Shop Foreman
• Maintains a level of training and experience with specialized equipment, machinery, and servicing techniques necessary for superior servicing of the customer’s equipment
• Collaborate with and follow guidance from experienced Technicians as instructed by the Shop Foreman.
• Attends training sessions as required by the Service Manager
• Performs additional repairs as required when any piece of equipment is returned by the customer because of the Technician’s faulty workmanship.
• Maintains accurate work order records of work performed and time clocked jobs.

Qualifications

Working knowledge of truck repair and maintenance. Outstanding mechanical aptitude and skills necessary to produce top results. Trade School or experience as Technician's helper or apprentice in truck shop. Manual dexterity. Good judgment. Ability to operate power and hand tools and other equipment safely. Driver’s License and good driving record. Excellent organization and communication skills. High school diploma or the equivalent. Ability to read, write and comprehend English instructions and information

Working Conditions

This is a physically demanding position. Will stand six to eight hours per shift. Will stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle and feel. Will lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds. Will use hand and power tools, hoist and test equipment. Will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, paint, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials.
