Job summary

Kenworth Sales Co. is seeking a Journeyman Service Technician for 1st/2nd shift in Boise, ID to perform high-quality repairs on customer equipment and recommend additional services as needed.

The role requires five years of heavy-duty truck repair experience with engine focus, strong English skills, and the ability to work from 3:30pm to Midnight on 2nd shift. A CDL is preferred and safety compliance is emphasized.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 5 years of experience as a heavy-duty truck repair technician with emphasis on engine repair.
• Working knowledge of heavy truck repair methods.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend English instructions.
• CDL preferred and good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Receives repair orders from Service Manager/Foreman.
• Executes work assignments thoroughly and efficiently.
• Maintains high workmanship standards on all services.
• Communicates recommended changes to the Shop Foreman.
• Determines further repairs and communicates recommendations to customer/foreman.
• Maintains training and experience with equipment and servicing techniques.
• Attends required training sessions.
• Keeps accurate work orders and time records.
• Follows warranty vendor guidelines and proper part handling.
• Participates in after-hours call-out and training of apprentices.

Salary Minimum and Maximum: $32.00 - $42.00 an hour DOE!!

JOB SUMMARY

2nd Shift Schedule: 3:30pm - Midnight

The primary function of the Journeyman Service Technician is to perform superior quality repairs to customer equipment and make recommendations for further services as determined by the Technician during service.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Receives repair order assignments from Service Manager/Foreman.
• Follows instructions and executes work assignments in repair order thoroughly and efficiently.
• Maintains superior standard of workmanship in all services performed.
• Advices Shop Foreman of any recommended changes in services ordered by the customer.
• Determines if any further repairs or servicing should be recommended to the customer and communicates such recommendations to the Shop Foreman.
• Maintains a level of training and experience with specialized equipment, machinery, and servicing techniques necessary for superior servicing of the customer’s equipment.
• Attends training sessions as required by the Service Manager.
• Performs additional repairs as required when any piece of equipment is returned by customer because of Technician’s faulty workmanship.
• Maintain accurate work order records of work performed and time clocked on jobs.
• Follow warranty vendor guidelines while keeping the service desk informed. Ensure that all parts are properly marked, retained, and handled according to the vendors’ warranty requirements.
• Accept and represent the department in all assigned after hours call out situations, ensuring timely response, professional communication, and proper resolution of issues.
• Assist in developing apprentice technicians by providing guidance and on the job training as directed by the Service Manager/Foreman ensuring skill growth and adherence to department standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to read, write, and comprehend English instructions and information. High school diploma or the equivalent. Five years of experience as a heavy-duty truck repair technician with an emphasis on engine repair. Working knowledge of all heavy truck repair methods. Ability to operate power and hand tools and other equipment safely. Working knowledge of P/C and Computers Excellent organization and communication skills. Valid Commercial Driver's License preferred and good driving record.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This is a physically demanding position. Will stand six to eight hours per shift. Will stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle and feel. Will lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds. Will use hand and power tools, hoist and test equipment. Will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, paint, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials.
