Job summary

Florida Kenworth in Tampa is seeking a Body Shop Foreman to lead daily shop operations, assign work, and ensure a clean, organized environment. You will assist technicians, clock time, and monitor job progress while maintaining high production standards.

The role demands at least 5 years in heavy-duty truck body work, strong leadership, and solid communication. This position requires hands-on repair, upfitting, and coordinating with the Body Shop Manager on schedules and customer updates.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years heavy-duty truck or related industry experience, including repair orders, diagnosis, repair and body maintenance.
  • Demonstrated journey-level ability in body repair and upfitting.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to supervise employees and delegate work while balancing lead duties with personal production.
  • Familiarity with warranty guidelines, claim procedures and company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Assess incoming Body department jobs, create customer repair orders, and obtain customer signature.
  • Update and close computerized repair orders; document all Body activities.
  • Plan and delegate workload to Body technicians; maintain personal production.
  • Provide leadership and technical resource support to Body staff; uphold quality, safety, and customer standards.
  • Inform management of delays, extensions, and additional service requirements.
  • Establish and enforce maintenance schedules for Body facility and equipment.
  • Communicate with customers about appointments, status, parts availability and progress.
  • Perform journey-level repair, upfitting, and bodywork alongside technicians; clock time accurately.
  • Record time on repair orders and jobs; monitor technician time in the system.
  • Ensure adequate material and supply inventory for the Body shop.

Body Shop ForemanResponsibilities:Maintains order in the shopResponsible for job assignmentsResponsible for the shop’s cleanliness, organization, and functionAssists technicians with requestsPerforms hands-on journey-level repair, upfitting, and bodywork as part of the daily workload, in addition to lead dutiesAccurately clocks into and out of assigned jobs and repair orders to record time worked.Tracks technicians' time in Karmak and is responsible for ensuring technicians are properly clocked on jobsCoordinates and communicates with the Body Shop ManagerDuties:Assesses incoming Body department jobs, makes initial repair diagnosis, and creates customer repair orders following company procedures, including obtaining customer signature on formUpdates and closes computerized customer repair orders while ensuring all Body department activities were accounted for and properly documented on the orderManages available billing hours by planning and effectively delegating workload to qualified and available Body technicians while also carrying a personal production workloadProvides leadership and demonstrates sound industry knowledge while serving as a technical resource for Body technician staffShows a heightened commitment to the success of the Body department by demonstrating and assuring high standards for quality, safety, and customer concernsEvaluates all work in progress to ensure repairs are proceeding in a timely fashion and completed with a high degree of accuracyInforms Manager and various other Body personnel of delays in work performance, necessary repair order extensions, and additional service requirementsEstablishes and ensures adherence to maintenance schedule for Body facility and shop equipmentCommunicates with customers regarding the scheduling of appointments, status of their repairs, parts availability, and work in progressPerforms journey-level repair, upfitting, and bodywork alongside Body technicians, clocking into repair orders and jobs to record actual time workedRecords time accurately, including time spent on lead and administrative duties, in accordance with company timekeeping proceduresTracks and monitors technicians' time on Karmak, ensuring accurate clocking on jobs and repair ordersEnsures an adequate resource inventory is available for technicians, including oil, grease, shop supplies, cleaning equipment, and materialsAll other duties as assignedEducation, Skills, Experience:Formal technical school graduate certificate/degree (or equivalent work experience)Minimum of 5 years heavy-duty truck or related industry experience to include processing repair orders, diagnosis, repair and maintenance of Body jobs, and customer serviceDemonstrated journey-level ability in body repair and upfittingEffective written and verbal communication skillsFamiliarity with both DOS and Windows-based computer programsDemonstrated working knowledge of warranty guidelines, claim procedures and company policiesAbility to supervise employees and delegate work in a manner that best utilizes shop resources and technician abilities, while balancing lead duties with personal productionThe ability to work under pressure while prioritizing and processing several tasks simultaneouslyWork Environment, Physical DemandsAbility to sit, stand, bend, kneel, stoop, and lift/move up to 75lbs. on a regular basisAbility to work in an environment to include 8–12-hour days, overtime hours as needed, with frequent exposure to weather conditions, vehicle and tool noise, and hazardous materials to include fuel, oil, grease, and cleaning solutions, dust from sanding, and possible paint fumes
