Qualifications

• Journeyman level ability in body repair and upfitting.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with warranty guidelines, claim procedures and policies.
• Ability to supervise employees and balance lead duties with production.
• Ability to work under pressure with multiple tasks.
• Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, stoop and lift up to 75 lbs.
• Willingness to work 8–12 hour days, overtime as needed, in an active shop environment.

Job description

Florida Kenworth is seeking a talented individual to take on our Body Shop Foreman – Working role. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of heavy-duty truck experience and is mechanically inclined. Excellent benefits offered. Responsibilities

• Maintains order in the shop
• Responsible for job assignments
• Responsible for the shop’s cleanliness, organization, and function
• Assists technicians with requests
• Performs hands-on journey-level repair, upfitting, and bodywork as part of the daily workload, in addition to lead duties
• Accurately clocks into and out of assigned jobs and repair orders to record time worked.
• Tracks technicians' time in Karmak and is responsible for ensuring technicians are properly clocked on jobs
• Coordinates and communicates with the Body Shop Manager

Duties

• Assesses incoming Body department jobs, makes initial repair diagnosis, and creates customer repair orders following company procedures, including obtaining customer signature on form
• Updates and closes computerized customer repair orders while ensuring all Body department activities were accounted for and properly documented on the order
• Manages available billing hours by planning and effectively delegating workload to qualified and available Body technicians while also carrying a personal production workload
• Provides leadership and demonstrates sound industry knowledge while serving as a technical resource for Body technician staff
• Shows a heightened commitment to the success of the Body department by demonstrating and assuring high standards for quality, safety, and customer concerns
• Evaluates all work in progress to ensure repairs are proceeding in a timely fashion and completed with a high degree of accuracy
• Informs Manager and various other Body personnel of delays in work performance, necessary repair order extensions, and additional service requirements
• Establishes and ensures adherence to maintenance schedule for Body facility and shop equipment
• Communicates with customers regarding the scheduling of appointments, status of their repairs, parts availability, and work in progress
• Performs journey-level repair, upfitting, and bodywork alongside Body technicians, clocking into repair orders and jobs to record actual time worked
• Records time accurately, including time spent on lead and administrative duties, in accordance with company timekeeping procedures
• Tracks and monitors technicians' time on Karmak, ensuring accurate clocking on jobs and repair orders
• Ensures an adequate resource inventory is available for technicians, including oil, grease, shop supplies, cleaning equipment, and materials
• All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Formal technical school graduate certificate/degree (or equivalent work experience)
• Minimum of 5 years of heavy-duty truck or related industry experience, including processing repair orders, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of Body jobs, and customer service
• Demonstrated journey-level ability in body repair and upfitting
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Familiarity with both DOS and Windows-based computer programs
• Demonstrated working knowledge of warranty guidelines, claim procedures, and company policies
• Ability to supervise employees and delegate work in a manner that best utilizes shop resources and technician abilities, while balancing lead duties with personal production
• The ability to work under pressure while prioritizing and processing several tasks simultaneously
• Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, stoop, and lift/move up to 75lbs. on a regular basis
• Ability to work in an environment to include 8–12-hour days, overtime hours as needed, with frequent exposure to weather conditions, vehicle and tool noise, and hazardous materials to include fuel, oil, grease, and cleaning solutions, dust from sanding, and possible paint fumes
