Ferman Motor Car Company INC in Tampa, FL is seeking a Body Shop Technician to diagnose, repair, and restore damaged vehicles to pre-accident condition according to manufacturer specifications and dealership standards. You will perform structural, body, and mechanical repairs, remove and replace panels, work with estimators and painters, ensure quality and safety, and maintain detailed repair records.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose vehicle damage and determine appropriate repair procedures.
  • Perform structural, body, and frame repairs using industry-standard equipment and techniques.
  • Remove, repair, and replace damaged vehicle panels, parts, and components.
  • Disassemble and reassemble vehicles for repair and refinishing processes.
  • Ensure all repairs meet OEM, insurance, and dealership quality standards.
  • Work closely with estimators, painters, and other technicians to complete repairs efficiently.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure proper fit, finish, and safety compliance.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of repairs performed and parts used.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Operate diagnostic tools, hand tools, power tools, and collision repair equipment safely.
  • Communicate any additional damage or repair needs to management or estimators.
  • Support productivity and cycle time goals within the body shop.
  • Perform additional duties related to collision repair as assigned.

Position Summary

The Body Shop Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and restoring damaged vehicles to pre-accident condition in accordance with manufacturer specifications and dealership standards. This position performs structural, body, and mechanical repairs while ensuring high-quality workmanship, safety, and efficiency. The ideal candidate is skilled in collision repair techniques, detail-oriented, and committed to producing safe and reliable repairs.

Requirements
Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of automotive body repair and collision repair techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret repair orders, estimates, and technical manuals.
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
  • Proficiency with body shop tools, welding equipment, and frame machines.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong understanding of safety procedures and regulations.
  • Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Vocational or technical training in automotive collision repair preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience as a body shop or collision repair technician required.

Physical Requirements
  • Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and reaching throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to work in awkward positions and confined spaces.
  • Manual dexterity for operating hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including gloves, safety glasses, and respirators.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures and physical demands of shop work.
Work Environment

Fast-paced automotive collision repair shop environment with exposure to noise, vehicle fumes, dust, welding, and mechanical equipment. Frequent physical activity is required, and strict adherence to safety procedures is essential. Occasional extended hours may be necessary to meet production and repair deadlines.
