City of New York’s Department of Transportation, Division of Bridges, seeks a Bridge Painter to prepare and paint iron and steel components on bridges and elevated structures. The role requires five years of full-time steel painting experience and a valid New York driver license (Class B) with no restrictions, plus willingness to obtain required credentials during probation.
Work hours are 7:00 AM–3:00 PM, Monday–Friday.

The New York City Department of Transportation, Division of Bridges is responsible for managing the full life cycle of over 800 bridges and tunnels and over 600 retaining walls, ensuring safety of the public and ensuring mobility for all users. Team members may work on major project designs, oversee construction, oversee maintenance activities, perform engineering reviews and quality assurance tasks on some of the most iconic and complex projects in the City.
Under supervision, prepares and paints iron and steel components on bridges and other elevated structures. Chips, cleans, and prepares iron and steel surfaces. Rigs line and tackle and mix colors and paints. Performs lead removal and containment. Removes graffiti on the arterial highway system. Drives trucks and other motor vehicles. Performs other related duties.

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
