Mondo is seeking a Board Hardware Engineer in Duluth, GA, onsite. Lead the translation of product requirements into high-speed PCB designs, coordinating across cross-functional teams to meet performance and reliability standards.

The role involves schematic work, simulation, component selection, ECO handling, and collaboration with firmware during bring-up. Requires 5+ years in PCB design and CADENCE tool experience, with DC/DC regulator design expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
• 5+ years of PCB design experience, including high-speed PCBs.
• Experience designing and laying out DC/DC regulator circuits.
• Working knowledge of Cadence-Allegro System Capture and PCB Editor.
• Familiar with DDR4, PCIe, UART, I2C, SPI and USB interfaces.
• Proficient with MS Office and Google Workspace.

Responsibilities

• Interpret product requirements into electronic schematic information and specs.
• Collaborate with board architects, product managers, mechanical and SI engineers.
• Pre- and post-simulate board designs using Cadence/Spice tools.
• Select and approve components; manage Bills of Materials.
• Support hardware changes through ECOs and debugging efforts.
• Interface with firmware teams during board bring-up and test with instruments.
• Manage multiple concurrent assignments and keep stakeholders updated.

Job Description

The Board Hardware Engineer serves as the project lead engineer responsible for translating product requirements into electronic designs, coordinating across cross-functional teams to deliver high-speed PCB solutions that meet client performance and reliability standards.

Job Summary

• Interpret product requirements into electronic schematic information, including writing functional specifications and unit test plans
• Collaborate with board architects, product managers, mechanical engineers, physical layout engineers, and SI engineers to ensure designs meet requested parameters
• Perform pre- and post-simulation of board designs using tools such as Cadence Sigrity PowerDC, OptimizePI, and LTSPICE/PSPICE
• Work with component engineering to select and approve new components, and manipulate Bills of Materials accordingly
• Support new and legacy designs through engineering change orders, problem debug, and customer support escalations
• Interface with firmware teams during board bring-up, and utilize oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters, and soldering tools
• Manage multiple concurrent assignments while keeping stakeholders informed of progress and roadblocks

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or equivalent
• 5 years of experience in PCB design and development, including high-speed PCB designs
• Experience designing and laying out DC/DC regulator circuits
• Working knowledge of Cadence-Allegro System Capture and PCB Editor software tools
• Familiarity with common bus protocols such as DDR4, PCIe, UART, I2C, SPI, and USB
• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Visio) and Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with scripting or programming languages such as Python, C, TCL, VHDL, or Verilog, with Python being a strong plus
• Experience with microcontroller programming and high-current DC/DC design and layout
• Familiarity with test equipment including TDR and VNA
• Experience performing board layout and PCB stack-up design
• Background in long-haul transport, networking, telecom, or high-speed computing hardware environments
• Exposure to AI-related tools or workflows in an engineering context
