Job summary

National Housing Trust is seeking an experienced Governance Manager to coordinate board and committee governance for NHT and NHT Communities (NHTC). The role reports to the CEO and drives scheduling, material preparation, minutes, and recordkeeping with a high degree of accuracy.

The ideal candidate will manage governance communications, calendars, and travel logistics, while supporting senior leadership and coordinating with internal and external partners.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of governance/board administration or related experience.
• Strong writing, editing and professional communication skills.
• Experience in affordable housing or similar complex, matrixed orgs.

Responsibilities

• Draft, compile, edit, format, and distribute board books, reports, presentations, memos, and other governance materials with accuracy and timeliness.
• Review, proofread and format CEO communications and board materials; incorporate feedback.
• Serve as governance liaison for board/committee members and external partners; manage inquiries and action items to completion.
• Oversee governance calendars and deliverables; ensure timely distribution of materials and deadline adherence.
• Take accurate minutes; document decisions, actions, deadlines, and responsibilities; prepare summaries and follow-ups.
• Maintain governance records (bylaws, resolutions, minutes, documents) with confidentiality.
• Develop, maintain, and improve governance policies, templates, and workflows for consistency and compliance.
