Position Details

Under the direction of the Executive Director of Special Education or Senior Director of Special Education, the BCBA performs program support within all District schools and programs, as assigned.

The Behavior Analyst is responsible for supporting the educational environment by creating and implementing behavior analysis and behavior management plans for scholars with disabilities and general education scholars.

This includes conducting assessments, creating behavior plans, developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), training school staff and paraprofessionals in effective behavioral intervention techniques, and providing direction and support to staff and IEP team members to ensure student success.

Essential Functions - Typical Duties

Classroom System Analysis: Assess classroom systems (e.g., teaching methods, classroom organization, behavior management) to enhance the educational environment, promoting appropriate learning behaviors while minimizing disruptive behaviors

Curriculum Development: Collaborate in developing and implementing curriculum materials and procedures to ensure that both individual and general scholar needs are addressed effectively

School Staff and Parent Training: Organize training opportunities and participate in District in-service presentations for staff, parents, and community service providers on topics like behavior interventions, classroom management, crisis prevention, home school communication plans, data collection, and relevant policies

Collaboration and Consultation: Work closely with school staff, administrators, IEP team members, and parents to provide guidance on implementing and monitoring behavior intervention plans in the educational setting

IEP and Behavior Plan Development: Develop IEP goals and objectives, implement one-on-one discrete trial programs as necessary, comprehensive behavioral support plans, and prepare progress reports related to behavior management services

Assessment and Reporting: Conduct functional behavior assessments for scholars with complex behaviors, ensuring compliance with Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (\"IDEA\") and California Education Code. Prepare and maintain written reports and records.

Modeling and Support: Model evidence-based interventions for scholars exhibiting challenging behaviors, and provide ongoing support and training to staff working with students

Data Collection and Evaluation: Collect and/or supervise the collection of data, prepare assessments and reports, and track student progress to monitor behavior management outcomes

Paraprofessional Training: Provide regular training and consultation to District paraprofessionals to ensure they are equipped to support scholars effectively, addressing behavior management and barriers to success

Professional Development: Attend seminars and conferences to stay informed of current trends and best practices in behavior analysis and education

Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned to ensure the efficient operation of the work unit.

Minimum Qualifications - Education and Experience

Three to five years of experience in behavior analysis, behavior management and/or social and behavioral regulation experience in a school setting preferred.

Experience supervising staff and conducting trainings for District teachers/staff

Masters degree in a job-related area, preferred.

Board Certified Behavior Analyst Certification required.
