Job summary

The Veterans Administration Medical Center (VAMC) Washington DC is seeking a full-time Board Certified anesthesiologist with a strong record of clinical excellence, teaching, and scholarly contributions. The selected physician will provide comprehensive perioperative care within an interdisciplinary team and participate in quality improvement activities.

The role offers opportunities for academic collaboration and participation in the EDRP program, with a focus on patient safety and teaching

Qualifications

• United States Citizenship or equivalent eligibility per VA policy
• English language proficiency (spoken and written)
• Current full and unrestricted medical license in the United States
• Board certification preferred for faculty/status per VA policy

Responsibilities

• Initial evaluation and overall workups for medical/surgical patients as needed
• Preoperative anesthesia clinic assessments and perioperative care
• Intraoperative anesthesia administration and monitoring
• Post-anesthesia care within an anesthesia team model
• Teaching of anesthesia residents and medical students
• Participation in quality improvement initiatives and clinical research as applicable
• On-call duties with schedule to be determined by service needs

Education

MD/DO degree (Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine)

ACGME/AOA accredited residency training in a core specialty
