Job summary

MCC in Batavia, NY is seeking a Blumer Operator to set up and operate cutting machines (Blumer or PMC Die Cutter) to cut product to proper length and width. The role requires reviewing job tickets and selecting programs, loading products, and verifying cutting accuracy to meet specifications.

You will maintain equipment, change knives, move finished goods, and complete tags and tickets. The position includes training new operators, keeping a clean work area, and supporting special projects.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with 1–2 years of cutting experience.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to follow written, oral, or diagrammed instructions.
• Ability to handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

• Review job tickets and determine customer specifications.
• Operate computer to check and select program or modify program; contact QA for approval.
• Set cutter side guides; load and cut; verify operation and adjust to maintain specs.
• Check knife performance; change blades using hand tools as needed.
• Move finished product with hand or pallet truck; manage skids and supplies.
• Complete load tags, tally sheets and final job tickets.
• Record each job run, job number, customer name, and specifics.
• Train new Blumer Operators and helpers in jogging and cutting operations.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area and equipment.
• Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.
