Keel is seeking a seasoned fitter to assemble and align fabricated structural steel components per engineering drawings. You will plan fabrication sequences, interpret drawing specs, and prepare assemblies for welding while upholding rigorous quality and safety standards.

You will read blueprints, lay out components, and verify dimensions with precision tools, using hoists, cranes, and rigging as needed. Join a team focused on craftsmanship and reliability.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
• Experience reading welding drawings and preparing assemblies.
• Proficient in measuring, layout, and alignment of structural components.
• Knowledge of structural fitting techniques and welding prep.
• OSHA safety practices and use of fabrication equipment.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and fabrication specifications.
• Lay out, fit, align, and assemble structural steel components.
• Measure, mark, and verify dimensions using precision tools.
• Set up and use jigs, fixtures, and face blocks for fabrication.
• Position and move materials using hoists, cranes, and rigging.
• Align and secure parts using hand tools, clamps, jacks, and wedges.
• Prepare metal for welding by grinding, beveling, and torch cutting.
• Assist welders by ensuring proper fit-up and assembly.
• Inspect assemblies for accuracy and quality before welding.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
• Follow safety procedures and quality standards.
