Job summary

Machitech in Kentucky is seeking a Welder Fitter to assemble, fit, and prepare metal components per engineering drawings and specifications. You will ensure proper alignment and fit-up before welding, maintain a safe and productive work environment, and apply strong blueprint reading and attention to detail.

This role requires a minimum of 2 years in fitter/metal fabrication, ability to read drawings, and familiarity with structural steel and plate work.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training is an asset.
• Minimum of 2 years in a fitter, assembler, or metal fabrication role.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
• Strong knowledge of measuring instruments and fabrication techniques.
• Experience with structural steel, plate work, or industrial fabrication.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
• Measure, mark, cut, and fit metal components to required dimensions and tolerances.
• Assemble and align structural steel, plates, pipes, and other fabricated components.
• Verify dimensions and ensure proper fit-up before welding or final assembly.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, and material handling equipment safely.
• Inspect completed assemblies to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
• Collaborate with welders, supervisors, and other production team members to meet production schedules.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow company policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and quality.
