Join a leading financial data company as a BI Asset Allocation Strategy Associate, where you'll leverage data analysis and research to support investment decisions. Collaborate with teams to generate insights and enhance tools for clients, while developing your career in macro research. Ideal candidates will have a strong analytical background, proficiency in Python and Excel, and a passion for financial markets.
Bloomberg runs on data. Bloomberg Intelligence "BI" takes that data and creates tools, analysis and insights that help inform and support clients’ investment decisions in financial markets. BI Strategy research combines written analysis with interactive charting and analytics to give professional terminal clients foresight into where asset classes and sectors stand today and where they may be heading next.
What's in it for you:
As a BI Asset Allocation Strategy Associate, you would be part of this fast-growing team, supporting the Director of BI Global Strategy Research. You will be responsible for research coverage and thought leadership, which includes building new capabilities that allow investors and asset owners to evaluate cross-asset portfolio considerations, supported by strong underlying data and analytics. You will also play a pivotal role in generating insights, constructing data analysis and conducting investment research. The research will require a combination of fundamental and quantitative analysis, asset class supply and demand trends, sector performance, correlations and relative value. The analysis will be based on Bloomberg data sets and the group’s proprietary models. Collaboration with the strategy, industry, government and litigation teams is a key element of this role. BI Strategists and Analysts arm Bloomberg users with the data and insights necessary to make market assessments.
We'll trust you to:
Actively contribute to the Global Strategy Team’s daily research activities (i.e. data, written research, idea generation). Research projects may vary in complexity and scope.
Pull, clean, and organize large sets of financial data using Python and Excel, ensuring accuracy and consistency despite potential imperfections in the raw data.
Manage and model large data sets, including aggregation and calculation of fundamental series for asset classes, sectors and indices.
Continuously assess the quality of data, identifying potential errors and inconsistencies; proactively determine whether the data makes sense and flag/correct issues as needed.
Develop and maintain relationships with internal departments throughout Bloomberg as well as external users.
-Synthesize the results of your data analysis and develop concise narratives that communicate the story behind the data.
Work with other data and core business groups to help develop and improve content and functionality across the terminal.
Interact with clients via our online messaging systems.
Participate in department-wide special projects.
You need to have:
Graduated with a Bachelor's degree; a degree in finance, mathematics, economics or a similar field with a heavy emphasis on computer programming preferred.
At least two years of research experience in either Equity Strategy or Economics, with genuine interest in developing a career in macro research.
Proficiency in Python (Pandas, NumPy) and Excel for handling large datasets, cleaning data, and performing complex analyses.
The ability to spot anomalies in financial data, think critically about what the data is telling you and identify when something doesn't align or make sense.
Excellent written communication and presentation skills, track record of collaboration with a team.
An understanding of advanced concepts, practices and procedures of finance/accounting with experience interpreting financial statements and performing quantitative financial analysis.
Strong familiarity with market indices and econometric data sets.
High attention to detail and demonstrable research and analytical skills.
Strong organizational skills and capable of handling multiple projects.
An ability to meet deadlines, logically tackle problems and set priorities.
A commitment to enhancing and developing products.
