Job summary

The Community Blood Center in Appleton, WI is seeking an experienced phlebotomist to ensure donor suitability and safe blood collection. You will supervise teams, maintain donor flow, and uphold quality standards in a fast-paced, life-saving environment.

Responsibilities include coaching staff, managing operations, performing automated collection procedures as needed, and ensuring accurate documentation and supplies. A high school diploma and six months of related experience are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalency required.
• At least six months of progressive experience or equivalent.
• Trained and competent in whole blood collections.
• Knowledge of medical terminology desirable.
• Supervisor experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure donor collection operates in compliance with regulations and policies.
• Coach staff and volunteers to improve performance and teamwork.
• Manage donor flow and provide exceptional customer service.
• Assign staff duties and oversee pre-operation tasks.
• Perform technical functions of the operation and assist with automation procedures.
• Serve as a resource for donor eligibility and technical issues.
• Assist in team evaluation and SOP adherence.
• Maintain clean, safe blood collection areas and ensure supplies and equipment are available.
• Oversee QC activities, record reviews, and start/end of day tasks.
• Provide information to Team Supervisor and maintain documentation.
• Ensure adequate staffing by covering call-ins during shifts.
