Job summary

American Red Cross in Wilmington, NC seeks a phlebotomy-trained donor technician to join our lifesaving team. You will be trained in phlebotomy with opportunities to advance within the organization while supporting blood collection operations in local communities.

You will help create a welcoming environment for donors, follow safety procedures, and work with volunteers to deliver lifesaving blood donations to hospitals. Competitive benefits are included.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills are required.
• A current, valid driver’s license with a good driving record is required.
• Physical requirements may include lifting, pushing or pulling heavy weights; long hours and schedule changes.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Take the time to personally connect with donors – listen to their stories and explain the impact of their donation.
• Collaborate with teammates to create a welcoming and friendly environment for donors to return.
• Be detail-oriented to ensure blood collected meets goals and regulatory requirements for safe transfusion.
• May drive Red Cross vehicles and assist with setup/teardown at donation sites; minimum height may be required for vehicle operation.
