Job summary

The American Red Cross in Des Moines, IA is seeking hardworking individuals to join our donor services team. This role offers paid training and no prior medical experience required, with a starting rate of $19.50 per hour.

You will connect with donors, work with teammates, and help ensure blood collection meets goals and safety standards. The position may involve driving Red Cross vehicles and setting up equipment at donation sites.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills are required.
• A current, valid driver's license with a good driving record is required.
• Physical requirements may include lifting, pushing or pulling heavy weights; sit or stand for long periods; adapt to long, irregular hours.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Take the time to personally connect with donors – listen to their stories and help them understand how impactful their donation is.
• Collaborate with teammates to create a welcoming environment so donors feel comfortable returning.
• Be detailed oriented to ensure the blood you collect meets goals, regulatory requirements and can be safely transfused.
• May drive Red Cross vehicles and assist with setup/teardown at donation sites.
