Job summary

LifeSouth Community Blood Centers, Inc. is seeking a Components Production Technician in Gainesville, FL to safely handle and process blood components for transfusion in a highly regulated environment.

Key duties include preparing blood products, conducting lab audits, filtering for leukoreduction, maintaining equipment, data input, labeling and quarantining products. Evening shifts, weekends and holiday rotations required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions.
• Good manual dexterity and ability to operate equipment.
• Ability to perform basic math.

Responsibilities

• Prepare blood and blood products.
• Perform the lab audit process including quarantine, release and disposal based on testing results.
• Filter blood to provide leuko-reduced products.
• Maintain and clean instruments and department.
• Data processing and input.
• Label products and quarantine/discard as needed.
