LifeSouth Community Blood Centers in Mobile, AL is seeking a Components Lab Technician to safely handle and process blood and blood components for transfusion in a regulated environment.

This full-time position offers a starting salary range of $13.50–$14.85 per hour, a comprehensive benefits package, and opportunities in a mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to saving lives and serving the community. Equal opportunity employer and background check required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license; LifeSouth driver eligibility is required.
• Evening, rotating weekend and holiday availability.
• Ability to work in high-volume, fast-paced environment.
• Good manual dexterity; ability to operate equipment.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions.
• Basic math including proportions, percentages, etc.
• Frequent standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds; some bending and climbing.
• Laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare blood and blood products.
• Perform lab audits for quarantine, release and disposal of products based on testing.
• Filter blood to provide leuko-reduced products.
• General maintenance and cleaning of instruments and department.
• Data processing and input.
• Label and quarantine/discard products as needed.
