Job summary

LifeSouth Community Blood Centers in Gainesville, FL is seeking Components Production Technicians to safely handle and process blood components for transfusion in a highly regulated environment.

You will perform lab audits, filter to leuko-reduced products, maintain equipment, input data, and label products while meeting strict safety standards. A high school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in a laboratory setting preferred.
• Must have valid driver's license and meet LifeSouth eligibility requirements.
• Ability to work evenings, rotating weekends and holidays.
• Good manual dexterity and ability to operate equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram or schedule instructions.
• Ability to perform basic math and handle physical tasks including lifting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare blood and blood products for transfusion.
• Perform lab audits including quarantine, release and disposal based on test results.
• Filter blood using dockable filters to produce leuko-reduced products.
• Perform maintenance and cleaning of instruments and department.
• Process data and input information into systems.
• Label available apheresis products and quarantine/discard as needed.
