Job summary

LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is seeking Components Lab Technicians in Dunwoody, GA to safely handle and process blood components in a highly regulated setting. The role requires attention to detail, dexterity, and the ability to work evenings with rotating weekends.

The position offers full-time employment with benefits and requires a drug screen and background check. LifeSouth is a mission-driven nonprofit serving 150+ hospitals across multiple states.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license and LifeSouth driver eligibility.
• Evenings, rotating weekends and holidays.
• Work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
• Good manual dexterity; operate equipment.
• Effective communication, oral and written.
• Interpret written, oral, diagram or schedule instructions.
• Basic math including addition, subtraction, percentages, etc.
• Standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, climbing, overhead lifting.
• Laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare blood and blood products.
• Perform the lab audit process including quarantine, release and disposal based on disease testing results.
• Filter blood using dockable filters to provide leuko-reduced products.
• Perform general maintenance and cleaning of instruments and department.
• Data processing and input.
• Label all available apheresis products and quarantine/discard products as necessary.
