Job summary

LifeSouth Community Blood Centers in Montgomery, AL is seeking Components Lab Technicians to handle and process blood and blood components with precision in a highly regulated environment, preparing products for transfusion.

This full-time position includes generous benefits, PTO, insurance, HSA with employer match, a retirement plan, and access to wages before payday. Starting pay is $14.50–$15.95 per hour; evenings, weekends and holidays may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license and LifeSouth eligibility.
• Evenings, weekends and holidays availability.
• Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
• Good manual dexterity and ability to operate equipment.
• Effective written and oral communication.
• Ability to interpret written, oral or diagram instructions.
• Basic math including proportions and percentages.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and frequent standing.

Responsibilities

• Prepare blood and blood products.
• Perform the lab audit process including quarantine, release and disposal based on disease testing results.
• Filter blood using dockable filters to provide leuko-reduced products.
• Perform general maintenance and cleaning of instruments and department.
• Data processing and input.
• Label all available apheresis products and quarantine/discard products, as necessary.
