Job summary

The American Red Cross in Pomona, CA is hiring a Blood Component Manufacturing Technician (Part-Time). The role involves processing donated units into transfusable components, maintaining documentation, and performing complex manufacturing tasks under a team-oriented environment.

Training will be provided for a 4-week period, typically Mon-Fri during daytime hours, with part-time evening/weekend shifts available.

Qualifications

High School or equivalent required.
Minimum 2 years of related experience in a regulatory, laboratory, or manufacturing environment.
Good computer skills and ability to use a wide variety of programs and laboratory equipment.
Good communication skills, with the ability to work on a team, as well as independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

Meet quality and production goals while maintaining accurate documentation.
Perform inventory management throughout manufacturing and distribution.
Data entry and operation of computer programs for component production, labeling, storage, and sample tube management.
Analyze information from other departments to meet deadlines and make decisions.
Perform complex manufacturing tasks such as pooled product manufacturing, freezing, washing, or deglycerolizing of blood products and pathogen reduction.
Communicate effectively with internal customers, vendors, and volunteers.
May require a variable schedule including weekends and holidays to meet hospital needs.
