Job summary

Rhode Island Blood Center is seeking a full-time Data Entry / Processing Technician to accurately enter donor and draw information and to select component plans, while performing production steps to produce quality blood components.

Responsibilities include labeling, documentation, and quality control of blood components, handling equipment, and maintaining a clean work area. Must lift up to 60 pounds and work the 2nd shift with occasional weekend rotation; pay is $17.91 per hour.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Data entry skills preferred.
• Experience in blood center or laboratory environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Enter and update donor registration and draw information into the computer.
• Process blood components from whole blood and apheresis donations with proper technique and documentation according to Rhode Island Blood Center Laboratory procedures.
• Label all blood components with proper checking and documentation.
• Perform and document quality control procedures on a regular schedule.
• Recognize equipment malfunctions and notify supervisor in writing; coordinate adjustments or repairs as needed.
• Organize, process, modify and sterile dock components to deliver quality pooled or split products.
