Job summary

The American Red Cross in Norfolk, VA is hiring a phlebotomist to support blood collection at donation sites. You will transport and set up equipment, and create a welcoming environment for donors to ensure smooth operations.

Paid phlebotomy training is provided, enabling you to grow healthcare skills within the nation's top humanitarian organization. The role requires flexibility for a varied schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills are required.
• A current, valid driver's license with a good driving record is required.
• Physical requirements may include the ability to lift, push or pull heavy weights and adapt to long, irregular hours; a minimum height of 60 inches may be required to operate vehicles.
• Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications are required.

Responsibilities

• Take time to personally connect with donors and explain the importance of donation.
• Collaborate with teammates to create a welcoming environment for donors.
• Ensure the collected blood meets goals, regulatory requirements and can be transfused safely.
• May drive Red Cross vehicles and assist with setup/teardown at donation sites.
• Support mobile blood drives at various locations.
