Job summary

We Are Blood in Austin, TX seeks a Chief Operations Officer to guide enterprise operations, ensuring regulatory compliance and optimal performance across blood donor services, testing, inventory, and distribution. You will lead cross-functional teams, set strategic direction, and coordinate with executives to drive the mission-driven goals of the organization.

The role requires a seasoned leader with strong communication, budgeting oversight, and a proven track record in regulated environments.

Qualifications

• Lead operations across the blood center’s processes and services.
• Navigate regulatory environments and ensure compliance with standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operations processes including donor screening, collections, clinical services, components preparation, donor testing, reference laboratory, inventory, distribution, and supply chain.
• Participate in developing and implementing the organization’s strategic plan.
• Provide leadership to achieve operating goals and objectives.
• Develop business plans with Executives/VPs; oversee budgeting and compliance with plans.
• Prepare and present operational reports and metrics for CEO.
• Lead reporting staff through training, feedback, and development.
• Maintain high service levels and professionalism organization-wide.
• Ensure exceptional customer service internally and externally.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and laws/regulations.
• Serve as SME on FDA, AABB, FACT and regulatory bodies.
• Represent company in relevant professional organizations.
• Meet and exceed AMO CommYOUnity! standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
