Job summary

Rhode Island Blood Center is seeking a detail-oriented Lab Technician to accurately enter donor and draw information, and to execute multiple production steps to produce quality components.

You will label components, perform routine quality checks, monitor equipment, and help maintain a clean, safe lab environment while meeting shift schedule and safety standards.

Proposed pay is $17.91 per hour for full-time night shift; candidates must be able to lift up to 60 pounds and stand for long periods.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Data entry skills preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Enter and update donor registration and draw information in the computer.
• Process blood components from whole blood and apheresis donations with proper technique and documentation.
• Label blood components with proper checking and documentation.
• Perform and document quality control procedures on a regular schedule.
• Recognize equipment malfunctions and notify Supervisor in writing of any issues.
• Organize, process, modify and sterile dock components to deliver quality products.
• Generate daily reports as required.
• Read and follow policy memos and Laboratory Log Book.
• Read and familiarize with Rhode Island Blood Center Laboratory Procedures Manual and SOPs.
• Maintain a clean and orderly working environment.
• Prepare biohazardous waste for shipment.
• Carry out procedures in a timely manner as directed by supervision.
• Participate in evaluation of new equipment and techniques.
• Successful participation on annual competency assessment.
