Job summary

Rumcsi, a healthcare services provider, seeks a dedicated Bldg Service Worker for the Evening Shift at Richmond University Medical Center in Staten Island, NY. You will clean and disinfect patient rooms, surgical suites, ERs, and common areas, following infection control guidelines, restocking supplies and disposing of waste.

You will operate hospital-grade cleaning equipment and maintain confidentiality and compassion in patient areas.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous housekeeping experience in a healthcare setting strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of infection control and hospital sanitation standards.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and hospital procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in fast-paced environments.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand/walk for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
• Must be able to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect patient rooms, surgical suites, emergency rooms, and other clinical areas.
• Perform terminal cleaning of discharged patient rooms following infection control guidelines.
• Sanitize high-touch surfaces and restock supplies in restrooms and common areas.
• Safely handle and dispose of biohazardous waste and sharps containers.
• Operate hospital-grade cleaning equipment (e.g., UV disinfection systems, floor scrubbers).
• Follow strict protocols for infection prevention, including use of PPE.
• Respond promptly to emergency cleaning requests and spills.
• Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate compassion in patient care areas.
• Document cleaning activities as required by hospital policy.
