Job summary

City of Corpus Christi is seeking a building and grounds custodian to maintain cleanliness of restrooms, floors, glass surfaces and general areas inside and outside the building.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and 6 months to 1 year of custodial experience, plus a valid Texas driver's license; applicants from other states must obtain a Texas license within 90 days of hire. Employment includes standard municipal safety screenings.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and maintains restrooms for public and staff by sweeping and mopping floors, sanitization of toilets and sinks, and cleaning mirrors and walls
• Replenishes bathroom supplies as needed, request supply orders in a timely manner
• Dusts and cleans all exposed surfaces (shelves, tables, windows) in public and staff areas
• Cleans and maintains floors by sweeping, mopping, stripping, and waxing floors; vacuuming and shampooing carpets as needed
• Collects trash inside and outside,place recycled materials and bins in designated location
• Maintains inventory of cleaning supplies and maintenance as needed
• Ensures that all materials and equipment to be used in the department is on hand and in good repair
• Conducts monthly check ins on all safety equipment
• May be asked to perform other duties as assigned

Overview

The building and grounds custodian position will be responsible for cleaning restrooms, sweeping, mopping and waxing floors. This position will also vacuum carpets and rugs as well as picking up trash inside and outside of the building. The incumbent will clean the interior of windows and other glass surfaces and dusting furniture.

Minimum Qualifications
