Job summary

Froedtert Health is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator for the Birth Center (Labor & Delivery and Mother-Baby unit) at our Milwaukee facility. This on-site role supports nursing unit communications, coordinates downtime procedures, and manages desk operations to ensure efficient patient care and accurate information flow.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of 6 months HUC experience, knowledge of medical terminology, and may have completed a formal HUC training program or hold certification.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 months experience as a HUC.
• Medical terminology knowledge required or must complete course within first 6 months of employment.
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Completion of a formal Health Unit Coordinator training program preferred.
• HUC certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate nursing unit communication and activities with physicians, nursing staff, other departments, patients and families.
• Manage the Birth Center desk area, facilitating the use of technology and coordinating downtime procedures.
• Provide clerical and system coordination and support for the Birth Center (Labor & Delivery and Mother-Baby unit).
