Job summary

Pitt Community College seeks an Instructor for Biotechnology to deliver quality instruction across formats (day, evening, online, hybrid). You will develop course materials, assess student learning, and maintain records to support student success and program outcomes.

You will contribute to workforce training programs (BioWork, aseptic manufacturing, cleanrooms) and promote safe lab practices while mentoring students and collaborating with colleagues.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Biology, or related life science field from an accredited college or university.
• Extensive knowledge of biotechnology and QC pharmaceutical laboratory techniques.

Responsibilities

• Teaches assigned courses within the Biotechnology program in various formats (day, evening, online, hybrid, blended).
• Develops and maintains instructional materials including syllabi, lesson plans, learning objectives, assignments, and activities.
• Evaluates and selects textbooks and instructional resources to support curriculum effectiveness and industry standards.
• Assesses student learning through grading, feedback, and evaluation of coursework and practical assignments.
• Maintains accurate academic records including attendance, grades, and end-of-term documentation.
• Responds to inquiries from students, faculty, staff, and the public in a timely and professional manner.
• Attends institutional commencement ceremonies as scheduled.
• Provides instruction in continuing education, workforce development, and customized training programs.
• Delivers hands-on pharmaceutical manufacturing training (tablet compression, encapsulation, aseptic processes, cleanroom practices, etc.).
• Promotes safe work practices in laboratory and manufacturing training environments.
