Job summary

Spear Bio, a rapidly growing biotech startup in Woburn, MA, seeks a top-performing Business Development Manager. You will drive revenue for Custom Assay Services by selling to Life Sciences and IVD markets, leveraging a strong CRO network and Spear Bio’s unique SPEAR platform.

Expect 40–50% travel in the Northeast, with potential Europe conferences as needed. You will lead commercial assay development efforts, collaborate with the technical leader, and expand customer partnerships by

Qualifications

• Direct experience selling custom services offerings in a CRO environment.
• Advanced degree in biology or related field with proven sales track record.
• Ability to communicate complex assay capabilities to scientists and buyers.

Responsibilities

• Lead Commercial Assay Development Service efforts to drive revenue growth with a strong funnel of applications.
• Partner with the Business Development team while working with the Assay Services technical leader to deliver solutions.
• Expand outreach using your network to target relevant Life Sciences markets.
• Identify biomarker opportunities to run samples and showcase Spear Bio capabilities.
• Collaborate with scientific teams to align capabilities with market needs and provide technical direction.
• Ensure efficient processes and manage customer expectations within the program.
• Develop and review a concise business plan and monitor funnel milestones.
• Provide regular forecasting updates to management and stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities and gaps; maintain high ethical standards in all activities.
