Job summary

Cape Fear Valley Health System is seeking a Data Analyst for Quality & Patient Safety at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC. This onsite role supports data collection, chart abstractions and reporting to drive quality initiatives and patient safety improvements.

The ideal candidate has a healthcare background, a bachelor’s degree in a related field, and experience with EPIC, BI, MIDAS, MS Office or SPSS; a CPHQ certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing, computer science, biostatistics or other healthcare related field required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• CPHQ or other related quality certification preferred.
• 2 years of healthcare related experience required.
• Experience in working with The Joint Commission and CMS standards preferred.
• Working knowledge of EPIC, BI, MIDAS, Microsoft Office, and SPSS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Implementing and assisting with projects related to clinical quality improvement (QI), quality measurement and QI research.
• Assisting with design and implementation of QI projects in a variety of clinical settings.
• Creates graphs, charts, PDCA’s, Gantt chart, pareto etc. to provide staff and leadership with data needed to facilitate change.
• Works with the Quality team to develop activities related to VBP, HAC, HRRP, Care Compare data to decrease financial implications.
• Data collection, database development and basic statistical analyses from information gathered in patient surveys, electronic health records, hospital administrative databases, and other sources.
• Works with all levels of leadership and front-line staff to facilitate and support the development and integration of evidence-based best practices at the department/program level.
• Works collaboratively with assigned teams to improve quality outcomes, patient safety, and satisfaction, and decrease costs through reduction of unnecessary process variability.
• Actively participates in regulatory surveys to provide relevant data as necessary and maintains constant preparation.
• Other duties as assigned

Summary

Minimum Qualifications

The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:

• Education and Formal Training: Bachelor’s degree in nursing, computer science, biostatistics or other healthcare related field required
• Master’s degree preferred
• Certification (CPHQ) or other related quality certification preferred
• Work Experience: 2 years of healthcare related experience required
• Experience in working with The Joint Commission and CMS standards preferred
• Working knowledge of EPIC, BI, MIDAS, Microsoft Office, and SPSS preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
• Knowledge of theories, principles, and methods utilized in the development health quality databases and analysis of health quality data preferred
• Must be independent, efficient and have exceptional interpersonal skills as interaction with patients, families, and medical staff is necessary

Physical Requirements

• Ability to move throughout the Health System without difficulty
• Stand and sit for long periods of time
