Job summary

University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center seeks a statistician to provide statistical consultation for faculty, staff, and students. Works under general direction to design experiments or surveys, analyze data, interpret results, and prepare reports.

Requires Master's in biostatistics or MPH with biostatistics, plus 1 year of consulting experience and knowledge of SAS/SPSS or equivalent, and proficiency in MS Office.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in biostatistics or related discipline or MPH with biostatistics concentration.
• 1 year of statistical consulting experience, preferably in biomedical or health care setting.
• Working knowledge of SAS, SPSS or other major statistical packages (S+, R, etc.) and Microsoft Office (Access and Excel).

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with investigators to identify problems and provide statistical consultation including design of experiments or surveys, data analysis, interpretation of results and reporting.
• Writes the statistical portion of manuscripts based on analysis and revises per reviewer comments.
• Assists client data organization and performs statistical computations.
• Provides graphical and tabular representations and develops in-house analysis programs.
• Collaborates on grant development including statistical design of studies and grant proposals.
• Performs non-statistical consulting tasks by explaining concepts in non-technical terms and helping researchers clarify issues.
• Visits the client's work field to understand the research and data and to build rapport.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
