Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX seeks a Biostatistical Consultant to provide statistical expertise for faculty, staff and students across clinical and population health projects.

You will apply advanced study designs, matching, quasi-experimental methods, machine learning and multivariate regression to real datasets, including Epic Cosmos or other health records. Collaboration, curiosity and rigorous analysis are essential.

Qualifications

• Education: Master’s in biostatistics or MPH with biostatistics concentration.
• Experience: 1 year in statistical consulting; biomedical/healthcare setting preferred.
• Must know SAS, SPSS or other major stats package (R, etc.) and MS Office (Excel, Access).

Responsibilities

• Provide statistical consultation for faculty, staff and students.
• Design experiments, analyze data, interpret results and prepare reports.
• Write statistical sections of manuscripts and assist with grant proposals.
• Create graphical and tabular representations and develop in-house analysis programs.

JOB SUMMARY

Works under general direction to provide statistical consultation for faculty, staff, and students.

The Biostatistical Consultant will be working on a variety of statistical analytic projects based on a mix of local electronic health record, insurance claims and administrative datasets, and larger health records datasets (e.g. Epic Cosmos, Flatiron), to support Division research needs. We also support key initiatives for others across campus but they largely revolve around clinical, population science, and policy-relevant research questions. We will be applying advanced study design including sophisticated matching, quasi-experimental methods, machine learning and other multivariate regression modeling. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Required

• Education
  Master's Degree In biostatistics or related discipline, or MPH with a concentration in biostatistics

• Experience
  1 year In statistical consulting with preference given to experience working in biomedical or health care environment and
  Requires working knowledge of SAS, SPSS or other major statistical package (S+, R, etc.) and Microsoft Office (ACCESS and EXCEL)

JOB DUTIES

• Collaborates with investigators to identify problems and provide statistical consultation including design of experiments of survey, analysis of data, interpretation of results and preparation of reports.
• Writes statistical portion of manuscript based on results of analysis and address manuscript revisions based on reviewer's comments.
• Assists client data organization.
• Performs statistical computations.
• Provides graphical and tabular representations.
• Develops, maintains and modifies programs for in-house use.
• Collaborates with investigators in grant development including statistical design of studies and preparation of statistical portion of grant proposal.
• Performs non-statistical components of consulting such as providing analogous examples and explanations using non-technical terminology, and helping researchers formulate and clarify research issues.
• Visits client's work field whenever possible to establish rapport and to become familiar with and interested in client's research and data.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
