Job summary

Frederick National Laboratory is seeking a Research Technician (Tue–Sat, 9:00 AM–5:30 PM) to support the DCEG Connect study. You will perform biospecimen processing, aliquoting, and inventory management in a regulated setting and ensure accurate documentation in laboratory databases.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in a biomedical field or equivalent experience, routine MS Office use, and the ability to obtain a security clearance. This is a full-time, on-site position in Rockville, MD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a biomedical field or four years of related experience.
• Understanding of biospecimen handling and documentation requirements.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook.
• Ability to maintain focus for extended periods and perform detailed data entry.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Execute biospecimen processing workflows under SOPs, including receipt, processing, aliquoting, and storage of aliquots.
• Process biospecimens in a BSL-2 environment for current and future research aims (e.g., blood fractionation, buccal cell isolation, urine processing).
• Record accurate biospecimen details in databases and documentation systems.
• Adhere to SOPs to ensure time-sensitive specimens are handled properly.
• Support laboratory workflow improvements and document deviations within the quality systems.
• Maintain equipment, supplies, and general lab organization.
• Utilize Excel, Word, Outlook, and LIS/ELN systems for tracking and reporting.
