Job summary

Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research is seeking a laboratory technician to handle biospecimens, perform molecular and serologic assays, and maintain precise records. The role involves coordinating across studies and supporting cell culture activities.

Responsibilities include processing whole blood, maintaining equipment, and ensuring quality control, with opportunities for training and professional development within a multidisciplinary program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Virology or Immunology (CHEA) or 4 years related experience.
• Two years of laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

• Receive, accession, label, process, aliquot, store, retrieve, and ship human biospecimens with traceability.
• Process whole blood for plasma, PBMCs, oral fluids, and tissues.
• Perform established molecular and serologic/lab procedures per SOPs and regulations.
• Maintain complete lab records and electronic databases.
• Conduct routine quality-control activities and document results and actions.
• Identify issues and communicate to supervisors.
• Calibrate and maintain lab equipment and monitor temperatures.
• Monitor reagent inventories and assist with restocking.
• Support cell culture activities and prepare cells for assays.
• Enter and organize data using FMPro and MS Office.
• Coordinate work across studies and prioritize processing tasks.
• Participate in training, competency testing, audits, and QA activities.
