Job summary

The Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research is seeking a Research Technician to provide biospecimen processing support for ongoing studies in the Division of Cancer Prevention. Core responsibilities include handling biospecimens, aliquoting, and maintaining accurate records in laboratory databases.

Work occurs in a BSL-2 environment with blood fractionation capabilities. The role requires adherence to SOPs, strong data recording skills, and effective communication with internal teams

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 4 years in lieu of degree; CHEA recognized.
• Familiarity with biospecimen handling and documentation requirements.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Execute biospecimen processing workflows under SOPs (receipt, processing, aliquoting, storage).
• Process and create biospecimen resources in a BSL-2 environment, including blood fractionation.
• Record accurate biospecimen details in databases and documentation systems.
• Adhere to SOPs for time-sensitive specimens and QA guidelines.
• Support continuous improvement of lab workflows and document deviations.
• Maintain lab organization and manage equipment/supply records.
• Utilize Excel, Word, Outlook and LIS daily for tracking and reporting.
