Job summary

Advocate Health's research team in Winston-Salem is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support NIH-funded studies by processing and managing human biospecimens, performing specialized procedures, and ensuring specimen integrity.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Biology or related field and at least two years of laboratory experience; preferred experience includes biospecimen processing, biobanking, cryogenic storage, PBMC isolation, LIMS, and clinical/translational research.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Laboratory Science, Biotechnology, Health Sciences, or a related field.
• Experience with biospecimen processing, biobanking, cryogenic storage, PBMC isolation, LIMS, and clinical or translational research preferred.
• Level III/IV consideration: may be placed at Technician III or IV based on qualifications and expertise.

Responsibilities

• Process, preserve, store, track, and ship human specimens.
• Perform PBMC isolation, cell counting, viability testing, cryopreservation.
• Maintain specimen inventory, chain-of-custody records, and lab databases.
• Operate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
• Support quality, regulatory compliance, and workflow improvements.
• Collaborate with investigators and lab partners.
