Job summary

NYU Langone Health is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator to initiate biospecimen components of studies, ensure protocol execution per SOPs, GCP, and HIPAA, and manage biospecimen kit inventories across locations. The role interfaces with sponsor labs and research teams, with mentorship responsibilities.

The candidate will coordinate biospecimen collection, processing, storage, and distribution, maintain inventories, and ensure data integrity across enterprise systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required.
  • 2 years of clinical research experience or related research laboratory experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under supervision and manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the lifecycle of biospecimens including collection, transport, processing, handling, identification, storage, and shipping.
  • Coordinate transport and receipt of collected biospecimen samples daily.
  • Maintain study biospecimen inventories and monitor General Laboratory supply levels.
  • Interpret study collection plans and generate source documents; understand principles of research tests.
  • Act as point of contact for designated biospecimen collections and respond to requests promptly.
  • Centrifuge, process, ship, and store biological materials per sponsor protocols and SOPs.
  • Perform bench work and advanced specimen processing under supervision.
  • Maintain clean lab facilities and share general laboratory responsibilities.
  • Record, update, and maintain confidential information in paperwork and web forms.
  • Reconcile biospecimen discrepancies in data with RDAs and RCs; resolve queries.
  • Maintain study inventories and perform QC on specimen records in enterprise databases.
  • Complete Biological Hazard training and proper handling/shipment of biofluids.
  • Provide updates to study teams regarding workflow or protocol changes.
  • Collaborate with NYU School of Medicine and Hospital personnel on study aspects.
  • Attend site-initiation and monitoring visits related to protocol requirements.
  • Participate in feasibility and complexity assessments for new protocols.
  • Help write SOPs or work instructions under supervision.
  • Train and mentor new CRCs on biosafety, compliance standards, and specimen processing techniques.
  • Adhere to SOPs, CAP accreditation requirements, and GCP standards.
  • Assist with development of SOPs, policy changes, and quality improvement projects.
