Job summary

The Biosciences Department at Phoenix College seeks a Laboratory Technician to support in-person, hybrid, and online lab offerings. You will organize, prepare, and supply equipment, reagents, media preps, and materials for biology labs including microbiology and anatomy/physiology.

Key duties include assisting instructors, restocking supplies, maintaining clean labs, and ensuring safe handling of hazardous materials. Associated degree + lab experience preferred; MCCCD experience valued.

Qualifications

Associate's degree in biology with 1 year lab operations experience.
Or equivalent combination of degree and related full-time work experience.
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or Biotechnology.
Experience with undergraduate lab prep for in-class research (CUREs).
2+ years supporting day-to-day biology labs in higher education.
2+ years handling media and hazardous chemicals.
1 year MCCCD experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist instructors and staff and prepare student lab set-ups, restock supplies, and prepare reagents.
Maintain inventories and proper storage/disposal of chemicals and hazardous materials.
Support day-to-day operations of biology laboratories in higher education.
Other duties as assigned.
