Job summary

Broward College is seeking a part-time Laboratory Assistant to support biology and related sciences in our Central Academics Biological Science Lab. Under supervision, you will prepare materials, set up experiments, and ensure all safety procedures are followed for each lab session.

Responsibilities include preparing chemical solutions and media, maintaining equipment, assisting with lab activities, and keeping accurate inventory while disposing of waste per regulations.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent combination of experience and education considered.
• Three+ years of functional experience in a science laboratory setting with hazardous material training.
• Ability to follow safety regulations and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare labs according to the assigned discipline (anatomy, biology, zoology, botany, microbiology).
• Prepare chemical solutions and media with accurate measurements and proper equipment.
• Return lab to pre-session condition by cleaning and sanitizing surfaces and supplies.
• Maintain living samples using aseptic technique and monitor inventory of supplies.
• Dispose of waste per established safety and regulatory protocols.
• Assist faculty with lab activities and ensure equipment is maintained and calibrated.
