Job summary

ERM seeks a Managing Consultant, Health & Safety (Biosafety Focus) based in Ewing, NJ, to lead biosafety programs across BSL-1/2 labs and contribute to governance, risk management, and client engagement. The role emphasizes building scalable biosafety systems, training, and program maturity while expanding ERM’s client relationships and knowledge sharing.

The position requires 4+ years in EHS biosafety leadership, experience with IBCs, and willingness to travel up to 70%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biosafety, Microbiology, Biology, Public Health, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering, or related discipline or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of relevant EHS experience with biosafety leadership in BSL-1/BSL-2 labs.
• Preference for BSL-3 program oversight, commissioning, or operational readiness.
• Experience developing, deploying, and managing biosafety and Health & Safety programs including standards, procedures, training, metrics, and assurance.
• Experience serving on Institutional Biosafety Committees (IBCs) with protocol review processes and governance.
• 2+ years of consulting or client-facing work with proposal support and relationship management.
• Strong communication and influencing skills; translating complex risk to actionable plans.
• Willingness to travel up to 70% based on client needs.
• Not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic biosafety leadership across complex laboratory environments.
• Design and operationalize integrated biosafety and Health & Safety systems aligned to business goals.
• Partner with senior stakeholders to strengthen governance, compliance, and risk management.
• Lead program implementation, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Build organizational capability through training, coaching, and culture development.
• Drive project delivery excellence while expanding client relationships and contributing to ERM’s growth.
