Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, life sciences, bioengineering, chemistry, environmental science, occupational safety and health, or a related discipline.
• Three (3) years of work experience in occupational and environmental health and safety, with a focus on hazardous materials and waste management, laboratory safety, and biosafety.
• Five (5) years of work experience in occupational and environmental health and safety, with a focus on hazardous materials and waste management, laboratory safety, and biosafety.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive biosafety program ensuring compliance with regulations, guidelines, and policies including NIH Guidelines and BMBL.
• Serve as Institutional Biosafety Officer (IBO) maintaining registrations with NIH and ensuring federal compliance.
• Coordinate Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) operations, including agendas, presentations, and minutes; maintain committee membership and registrations.
• Support compliance with NIH DURC Policy and select agent regulations.
• Oversee EH&S day-to-day operations: hazardous waste handling, ergonomic assessments, radiation monitoring, and safety inspections.
• Develop and deliver training programs on EHS and biosafety topics for faculty, staff, and students.
• Prepare reports for regulatory agencies and maintain safety records.
