Job summary

UCLA Environment, Health & Safety seeks a Biosafety Manager to lead the biosafety, high containment and vivarium programs campus-wide. You will work with faculty, staff and students to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and UC mandates, acting as Biosafety Officer and advisory to the Institutional Biosafety Committee.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of biosafety experience, including management of BSL-3 or higher facilities.
• Experience overseeing professional staff in a regulated environment; mentoring and performance management.
• In-depth knowledge of NIH Guidelines and Cal/OSHA standards; regulatory familiarity with select agent regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead UCLA's biosafety, high containment and vivarium safety programs.
• Oversee EH&S professionals and budget, trainings and certifications.
• Coordinate regulatory inspections and develop biosafety policies and manuals.
• Serve as campus Biosafety Officer and advisor to IBC on best practices.
