Job summary

UCLA Environment, Health & Safety seeks a Biosafety Manager to provide leadership for biosafety, high containment and vivarium safety programs on campus. The role reports to senior EH&S leadership and serves as the campus Biosafety Officer and IBC advisor.

The manager will supervise six EH&S professionals, coordinate inspections, develop training, and ensure compliance with NIH/Cal/OSHA standards, select agent regulations, and university policies.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years relevant experience in biosafety and leadership in regulated environments.
• Strong knowledge of NIH Guidelines, Cal/OSHA standards and select agent regulations.
• Experience with vivarium operations and high-containment environments.
• Ability to manage and mentor professional staff in a comprehensive program.

Responsibilities

• Lead UCLA's biosafety, high containment and vivarium safety programs.
• Serve as campus Biosafety Officer and advise IBC on best practices.
• Oversee six EH&S professionals and coordinate training and inspections.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state and UC requirements and manage budgets.
