Job summary

Biogen is seeking an Engineer II for its downstream pilot development laboratory in Research Triangle Park, NC. You will plan, execute, and analyze pilot-scale experiments, document results, and maintain lab equipment to support our BioATMP program.

The role emphasizes collaboration with cross-functional teams, safe laboratory practice, and clear reporting to drive efficient scale-up of manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of experience in a related field.
• Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency in laboratory equipment maintenance and operation.
• Experience in chemistry, life sciences, or related science/engineering field.
• Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and guidelines.
• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and execute experiments in downstream pilot laboratory with guidance from supervisor.
• Document experimental results and techniques in lab notebooks and reports.
• Analyze data from pilot-scale experiments.
• Maintain and operate laboratory equipment, with routine maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Order laboratory supplies to ensure smooth operation of the lab.
• Present findings to pilot development teams and broader organization.
• Attend departmental meetings to communicate progress and collaborate on goals.
• Follow all laboratory safety guidelines.
• Collaborate with manufacturing-focused teams to solve complex problems.
